The OFFICEPOLITICS® Method
Understand power.Shape influence deliberately.Make decisions stick.
Every organisation has two levels: the official one with its org chart and processes, and the real one, where relationships, interests and timing decide. The method helps you see both and act with integrity. It consists of three levels that build on each other.
Three levels that build on each other
See through
Before you act, you need to know where decisions are really made. That is rarely where the org chart says.
How does this system really work?
- Where are decisions actually made?
- Who influences them, visibly or behind the scenes?
- Which interests, risks and histories are at play?
Position
Once you understand the situation, you can clarify your own standing: who you work with, where you have room to move and where it gets tight.
Where do you stand, and how solid is that position?
- Which alliances are stable, which only hold case by case?
- Where is counter-power forming?
- Where are your escalation and retreat points?
Navigate
Now it is about action: the right conversations, at the right time, with the right framing.
How do decisions get implemented effectively?
- Prepare critical conversations
- Choose timing and framing
- Anticipate resistance and adapt to new constellations
With integrity, not tricks
OFFICEPOLITICS® is not a manual for manipulation and not a training programme. It is about clarity on real dynamics, acting with integrity and credibility in the long run. The method grew out of 25 years of practice in political systems.
If a strategy violates your personal values and morals, it is not a sustainable strategy.
