For leaders

Every company has unwritten rules.
Those who know them have a say.

For decision-makers who are new in their role, caught between the fronts or reorienting themselves. I help you recognise interests and power structures and act without compromising yourself.

Where do you stand right now?

Three situations in which good work alone is not enough.

New in the role

The first 100 days

You now lead people you used to know as colleagues, or a team you did not choose. What you do in the first weeks will stick.

Caught in the middle

Between the groups

Those above expect one thing, those below another. Good arguments fizzle out because things were decided differently behind the scenes long ago.

Reorientation

What next?

The role no longer fits, or the environment has changed. You do not want to rush anything, yet you do not want to stand still either.

The analytical core

The OFFICEPOLITICS® Method

Understand power.Shape influence deliberately.Make decisions stick.

Level 1 · See through

How does this system really work?

  • Where are decisions actually made?
  • Who influences them, visibly or covertly?
  • Which interests, risks and historical lines are at play?
GoalA realistic assessment of the situation

OFFICEPOLITICS® is not a separate product or a training programme. It is the analytical core of every engagement, applied to your specific role, responsibility and decision situation. Distilled from 25 years of practice in political systems. Not an academic construct.

More about the method →
Not the question: “What would be technically right?”
But: “What can realistically be achieved in this context, and at what price?”

What OFFICEPOLITICS® is, and what it is not

Not
  • A manual for manipulation
  • Machiavellianism
  • Intrigue and sabotage
  • Short-term tricks
But
  • Clarity about real dynamics
  • Strategic action with integrity
  • Long-term credibility
  • Responsibility for decisions
If a strategy violates your personal values and morals, it is not a sustainable strategy.
— Markus Krahnke, founder of OFFICEPOLITICS®

1

Enquiry

You describe your situation in a few sentences. I read every enquiry myself and usually reply within 24 hours on working days.

2

Impulse Session, 60 minutes

We work through your situation using the three levels of the method: see through, position, navigate. You leave with a clear assessment and a next step.

3

Coaching over 3 or 6 months

If you wish, I stay at your side while the situation develops.

This fits if you

  • lead people or are just taking on a leadership role
  • need an outside assessment that is not available in-house
  • want to act with integrity without being naive

This does not fit if you

  • want to resolve general career or personality questions
  • need legal advice (employment law questions belong with a specialist lawyer)
  • are looking for tricks to manipulate others
Confidentiality
  • I name no names.
  • I show no case histories.
  • I pass nothing on.

What you entrust to me
stays with me.

About me

Markus Krahnke

Anyone who carries responsibility in an organisation eventually notices that the org chart and reality do not match. My craft is making that difference readable.

I did not observe power structures. I worked in them: in parliament, in a corporation and on the side of senior executives. Law degree, MBA (Master's thesis: micropolitics in organisations). Independent consultant, founder of OFFICEPOLITICS®. I work without an agenda of my own. The only point of reference is your position in the system.

Political power · Parliament & administration
German Bundestag: OSCE desk officer. Bundestag committee of inquiry into party donations (Helmut Kohl): legal trainee. Hamburg State Parliament: office manager for members of the governing parliamentary group.
Corporate power · Corporation & regulated markets
Vattenfall: Head of Regional Coordination Hamburg/Northern Germany · Government Relations, Regulatory Affairs, Issues Management · reporting line to the Executive Board. Central coordination of the remunicipalisation of Hamburg's power grid · political coordination of the nuclear plant decommissioning.
Representation of interests in the corporation
Elected substitute member of the senior executives' committee of the Vattenfall holding. Negotiation experience with works councils in my own line function, on the employer's side.

Frequently asked questions

How confidential is the conversation?

Confidential. There is no recording. What you tell me stays in a protected space.

What does it cost?

The 60-minute Impulse Session costs €500. The three-month coaching starts at €3,000, the six-month coaching at €6,000. All prices include VAT. We agree the exact amount for the coaching formats in advance, depending on scope and rhythm. Which format fits is clarified after your enquiry.

Is this legal advice?

No. I hold a law degree but I am not a practising lawyer. Please clarify employment law questions, such as termination agreements, with a specialist lawyer as well.

Do I need to prepare?

No. It helps if you briefly think beforehand about who plays a role in your situation. That is all you need.

Where do the sessions take place?

Online only, preferably as a video call. If you wish and it makes sense, we can talk by phone. This applies to all formats.

The right moment

The earlier you know the situation,
the more room you have.

Decisions are often prepared long before they are officially made. Alliances shift quietly, and initiatives stall without anyone saying so. Those who see this early can act calmly instead of merely reacting.

The next step

You do not need to prepare anything.

If you are in a difficult situation yourself and are looking for support, write me a few sentences about what it is about. I read every enquiry myself and usually reply within 24 hours on working days.
